Schussenried Monastery Museum – NEW!

Bad Schussenried, Germany

A former Premonstratensian monastery. Plans for the new monastery complex were drawn up in the mid-18th century by Dominikus Zimmermann and the edifice was built by Jakob Emele. The highlight of the monastery complex, which was never completed, is the light-flooded library hall. The unique work of art fascinates visitors with its artistic furnishings comprising paintings, sculptures and stucco work. In addition to the library hall, Schussenried Monastery is now home to a new museum, built in 2010, dedicated to the monastery’s history and a changing selection of art exhibitions.
