Öchsle railway

Ochsenhausen, Germany

The pure romanticism of the railway with the Öchsle on the 19-km stretch from Warthausen to Ochsenhausen. The nostalgic journey by steam train on the 750- mm narrow gauge track winds through the hilly landscape of Upper Swabia past historic stations from the time of the German industrial revolution. Travelling in the open summer coach offers a special experience. Sitting in the passengers carriages built from 1891 and boasting open platforms, wooden windows and wooden benches, you can enjoy a magnificent journey through time. The Öchsle has its own cycle path which mostly runs parallel to the railway, and cycles are transported for free in the little train. A range of special excursions (see website).
